RATHER THAN HAVING A TRADITIONAL OBITUARY,
BILL LEFT US WITH HIS OWN WORDS TO REMEMBER HIM BY
“Run out of Keyser in 1969 to Houston, Texas and two years employment at the Manned Spacecraft Center as a quality control tech on the Apollo Space Suit. Spent time in the suit during hardware compatibility configuration testing between the suit and both the command module and the lunar lander. Tested a complete Class 1 (flyable suit) at Ames Research Center, San Francisco to verify what affect the Apollo suit and its appurtenances, in full operational mode, would have on a magnetometer that was to be left on the moon. Qualified to fly Zero ‘G’ while at the center, but never allowed to fly.
From 1971 to present, (run out of Houston to Dallas in 1985) I have been associated with various companies involved with the selling and supplying of pipe, fittings, valves and other equipment to General Contractors for the construction of water and wastewater pumps stations and treatment plants. I’ve held positions in estimating, project managing, project engineering and sales. My present company, which I’ve been with since 2000, is RTLC Piping Products, Inc. and I hold the position (questionable) of Vice President of Sales. We fabricated large diameter carbon steel pipe in sizes ranging from 12” (1’-0”) to 168” (14’-0”) and have projects all over the country with a few established “hot spots.”
On a personal note, I have been fortunate enough to have had some great deer and turkey hunts in Texas along with some fine fishing. Tried flying and never could get comfortable with it, so I gave it up with 52 total hours in the cockpit, one-half of which was solo. My most exciting moment was driving a NASCAR stock car at 150 mph at Texas Motor Speedway.
It is a chore to write about oneself. It becomes a challenge to discover that fine line between “a need to know” or if I tell you “I’ll have to kill you.” A line that separates informational sharing from bragging or embellishments. And of course, the bad times, there are never included, but we all have them.
So, in conclusion, this is the best I could do.
C’est La Vie, C’est La Vie”
