Gene Calvin Clem, I.
KEYSER, WV – Gene Calvin Clem, I., 83, of Keyser, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Potomac Valley Hospital.
Born on September 26, 1940, in Keyser, he was the son of the late Louis C. Clem and Marian E. (Rice) Junkins. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Gene Calvin Clem, II; his brother, Donald L. Clem, and wife Terri; stepfather, Maurice Junkins and stepmother, Eloise Clem.
Gene graduated from Keyser High School, Class of 1959 and was a United States Navy Veteran and served on the U.S.S. Enterprise. He retired from the West Virginia Department of Transportation Division of Highways as a supervisor and was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Keyser. He was also a member of the Queens Point Memorial Post #6775 VFW in McCoole, MD and of the America Legion Boyce Houser Post #41 Keyser. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Left to cherish in his memory are his loving wife, Janice J. (Gray) Clem; his sons, David Stephen Clem and wife Tammy and Joseph Clem, and his brothers, Thomas Junkins and wife Susan, and Jay Clem and wife Jennifer. He is also survived by his adored grandchildren, Gene C. Clem, III and wife Amy, Natasha E. Woods and husband Tim, Jeremiah Clem and wife Leah, Josh Clem, Recce Clem, Justin Clem and Elijah Clem as well as many great grandchildren.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Gene Calvin Clem, I. to the New Creek, Keyser or Burlington Fire and Rescue Company.
A Celebration of Gene’s Life will be held at a date to be announced. Military honors will be accorded by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the Keyser American Legion Post #41 at the time of service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser.
